I’ve been reflecting lately on how God sees me-what His opinion of me really is. Intellectually, I know He loves and accepts me, but somewhere deep down I sometimes find myself questioning what He really thinks of me and if I’m really living up to His expectations.
Much of our peace and joy in life depends on how we think God sees and feels about us. And it can be hard to maintain an accurate understanding of this. Since we all make mistakes, I suspect the devil often uses these to inject feelings of shame. Then we can find ourselves wondering if God is disappointed in us, or perhaps angry with us. Plus, in our media-driven, highly competitive society, it’s tempting to compare ourselves with one another, where we always come up short, even wonder if God compares us with others.
How God sees you focusing on what God Himself says about us is vital to our health and happiness. We read in 1 John, “See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are!”* We belong to a loving, protective Father Who delights in us!
The truth is that, even on my worst day, He adores me. He’s head over heels in love with me, and with you too!
