For instance, we may get upset and worry. Perhaps ponder potential negative outcomes, which usually cause fear and/or stress.
Or we may try to avoid it–ignore the whole thing, just stuff it away and don’t think about it. But that can leave us with a vague uneasy feeling inside–somehow just not at peace with ourselves.
Or we may try to figure the problem out on our own, which can work with small challenges that have simple solutions. But this can be daunting, even overwhelming when facing major problems.
There’s a better way to respond to difficulties. God is waiting to help us. He longs for us to come to Him and tell Him about all our problems and concerns–just pour them all out before Him.
King David the psalmist urges us to
“… trust in Him at all times.
Pour out your heart to him,
for God is our refuge.” ~ Psalm 62:8*
Another version reads, “Pour out your longings before him, for he can help!”
Next time you face a difficulty, even a small one, before you start to worry about it, dismiss it, or try to fix it on your own, remember to stop and talk to God about it. Listen to Him. Ask for His perspective. The One Who created everything, from the tiniest atom to the vast ever-expanding universes, loves you deeply. He cares about your problem, and is able and eager to help. Allow Him to show you His solution.
